Bye bye Christmas...Hello 2012!

Happy New Year! 2012 is already off to a very busy start! We took our tree down and hubs will be taking the lights down this weekend (I hope!) We are not those people that leave the lights up year round..I promise! That always makes me laugh when I see it though. We were both ready to pack up the Christmas decor and start this fresh, new year. My kids are still on vacation for another week so, we have been enjoying the San Diego weather. We spent a day at Sea World, hung out with my good friend in Cardiff-by-the-Sea and ran back & forth to L.A. a few times for my son's auditions. Is it really only the 3rd day of the year? We look forward to a fun filled year and wish everyone Peace, Health & Happiness in 2012!

I'm excited to be working on a few new projects and look forward to updating the B.Y.O.G. line this Spring!

I say this every year but, I can't believe Thanksgiving is already here!!! My family loves this holiday and the simple tradtions we started when our kids were toddlers. My hubby is an amazing cook so, he is our turkey guy. Turkey one makes his famous apple pie each year and Turkey two decorates the table (and snaps the green beans in half.) I was looking through Pinterest for table setting ideas and found some great options for a kids table. Last year we made the paper bag turkey as seen here and year before last we had indian headbands as seen here so, time for something different and fun!

My kids went back to school last week but, it seems today is the official day for most. I realized by the end of last week that we are a family that needs to adhere to a schedule. We do so much better. Summer was fun but, a bit of a free for all. And now between homework, late football practices and after school activities our house is getting tore up! I seriously need help and my kids are definitely old enough to pitch in on a regular basis. So, I decided it was time to get organized. I've always ~~threatened~~ talked about using a chore chart because I don't want to ~~yell~~ ask three times to do a simple chore (make beds, pick up clothes off the floor etc...) Now that I'm committed to using a chore chart, I started to search for one that will work for our family and not look too lame hanging in our kitchen (where it must be placed or I'll forget and never enforce it!) I was surprised to see how many choices are out there and I'm so thankful for the Moms that took the time to share their creative ideas. Cause, I'm way too busy picking up after everyone! P.S. If you have toddlers, start with small task that won't overwhelm them (or cause more grief for you) like picking up a few toys etc.. You will thank me later:)

The days are dwindling down. The aisles that once displayed beach towels and sand toys are now replaced with notebooks and three ring binders. Nooooooooo! I love Summer and I'm not ready to think about the rigorous schedule that is fast approaching. I have enjoyed hanging out with my family and friends at the beach. Watching my kids learn to surf. Swimming in the pool after dark. The last couple months have been filled with many adventures and it's hard for my brain to make the switch. We all take pictures of our kids on the first day of school or at least try to but, this is a much more creative way to capture that image. I first saw this idea on my girlfriend Nicole's Pinterest board. She has little ones so, I hope she remembers to do this! For me this falls into the category of "I wish I would have done that!" Our latest addition...a dwarf/mix bunny named "Willow." or "S'mores" No, "Willow." He can't make up his mind! My son loves all creatures. Since he could walk he has been collecting bugs, lizards and other backyard creatures. His curiosity has forced me to face my fear of slimy, winged and scaled things! I spend so much time trying to teach my kids and they always seem to teach me right back! We constantly have a "found" pet in our dwelling. Usually a lizard. Sometimes a pair of June bugs. I've sort of gotten used to it. When birthdays or holidays come around the first thing on his list is always a living, breathing thing. This last birthday he asked for an iguana...yuck! We took him to a reptile show to check out all the creatures and he fell in love with a chameleon. I was trying to point out all the selling points as I pictured this in our house...it could blend in with the decor? No..still not sold! Just as I was warming up to the idea he spotted a tiny, bunny in the pet store. It was love at first sight! How could we say no to this face?? So now we have a little fuzzy, bunny hopping around our house. He/she is super cute and very social. He loves being around people and doesn't mind being ~~held against his will~~ cuddled. We are in the midst of liter box training and my son has been really good about taking care of him/her?? We won't know the sex until it is about 6 months old. Here are some pics of our other house pets...aren't they cute?? lol!

Never say never. If you have kids, you may eventually end up with a pet or two or three? Trust me...I did not foresee any of these in my future but, I have grown to love most of them. Pets are also a good way for kids to learn about compassion and responsibility.

Have you heard of it or received an invite yet? If not, it is my pleasure to introduce Pinterest to you! It is a place to save all of the wonderful things you find online. When I find something online that I want to refer back to at some point, I bookmark it. The problem with that is I forget the name of the site and have to search through a million bookmarks to find the dang link. I max out my photo files this way too! Pinterest not only solves this frustrating problem it gives you a space to create your own boards with photos of all the things you find online. You can name your boards and pin things to specific boards. Just like a virtual inspiration or bulletin board. For example...if you are designing a nursery you can make a board for that. Every time you see something beautiful (eco-friendly crib, modern rug or cool piece of art) for your nursery pin it to your board. It would also be a great way to organize all the gadgets you are shopping or registering for (strollers, baby carriers, monitors etc...) Also great for planning trips (Babymoon?) Getting ready for holidays. Planning an end of Summer soiree. Storing recipes. The list goes on and on. The best part is that you can share your boards and peek at other member's boards. I am constantly re-pinning things I see on other boards. It is a great place to be inspired and a wonderful community of like minded, creative, uber organized and those who aspire to be organized!

Summer Prints & Mocktail Mixology

Back by popular demand...Cosmopolitan, Lemon drop & Cocoa Chanel! These prints are shipping now! We thought we'd celebrate by toasting all of you with a refreshing Summer "Mocktail."

Do try these at home!

Cosmopolitan Mocktail

Ingredients:

1/2 cup lemonade

1 Tablespoon raspberry syrup

Splash of fresh lime juice

Pour lemonade in glass. Mix in raspberry syrup and a splash of lime.

Garnish:
Wet the rim with a lime wedge. Coat with pink cosmo rimming sugar.

Lemon drop Mocktail
Ingredients:

Lemon drop candy

Lemonade concentrate

Lemon-lime soda

Lemon juice

Pulverize some lemon drops candy in your food processor. Rub a cut lemon around the edges of two martini glasses, then dip the rims in the pulverized lemon drop candy. For two martinis, mix two shots lemonade concentrate, 1/2 shot lemon juice, 8 ice cubes, and 4 oz. lemon-lime soda in your food processor with the remaining pulverized lemon drop candy. Pour into the two martini glasses and serve.

Garnish: Crushed lemon candy or lemon slice

Cocoa Chanel
Ingredients:

1 cup cold milk
1/4 cup best quality chocolate syrup, plus more for dipping rims
1 tablespoon corn syrup
Crushed ice, as needed

2 martini glasses

Combine the milk, 1/4 cup chocolate syrup, corn syrup, and crushed ice in a blender and blend until smooth.

Pour some of the chocolate syrup onto a small plate and some of the chocolate sprinkles onto another small plate. Dip the rim of each glass in the chocolate syrup and then dip the rim in the chocolate sprinkles. Fill each glass to the top with the chocolate milk mixture.

Garnish: Chocolate sprinkles & a maraschino cherry

I'm so proud of Elaini! She was featured in The Oregonian Newspaper. She is an inspiration and reminder that we are all capable of doing amazing things despite our own setbacks & obstacles. Elaini has struggled with health issues for the past few years but, that did not stop her from taking on this project which will ultimately be a huge blessing to the Orphans in India. Can you imagine what these orphans would think of Elaini in her sunny yellow dress? She is their shining light & their hope! Sometimes that's all we all really need...hope.

Elaini is my dear friend.

I met her in 2008 when B.Y.O.G. was in its infancy! She sent an email one day asking if she could order gowns without the usual pregnancy related packaging. The gowns were for a 17 year old girl named Marissa. Marissa was battling cancer and enduring long hospital stays while she received treatment. Elaini wanted her to feel pretty and have something modest to wear. She thought our hospital gowns would do the trick. I thought it was so sweet of Elaini to buy the gowns for her friend but, as it turned out, at the time Elaini had never even met Marissa! She read an article about her in the local newspaper and followed her heart...amazing! I was so touched by her gesture and wanted to help too. We began to converse back and forth about her first visit to see Marissa in the hospital and after that she was kind enough to send updates. (I'm happy to report that it has been almost two years since Marissa's successful bone marrow transplant!)

Elaini has designed a black dress that she will be wearing for 100 days. She will be modeling it on her blog daily but, it's really not about her or the dress though. It's about orphans in India. Here's an excerpt from her blog...

"Orphans in India can’t go to school without a uniform. However, they often don’t have clothes to wear. Growing up surrounded by turmoil, human trafficking, and loss, an education can help these orphans dream about a different life. I have been given so much that I can have “fashion,” while these children struggle to stay clothed. I have to do something. I’m hoping you’ll do it with me.

Here’s the deal: I’ll wear a black dress for several months (don’t worry—I’ll have two of the exact same style so that I don’t start smelling) to identify with the children who only have one outfit. I’ll accessorize it in different ways, take a picture every day, and blog it. Think of it as a dress marathon.

Here’s where you can help. I want to raise $50,000 for the orphans in India. I’m going to wear this dress as a reminder of these children. Would you help me help them? Through partnering with Warm Blankets Orphan Care, let’s dream big for these children who may never get the chance to dream at all unless we do something. Even the smallest gift will make a difference."

Spring is here and although the weather has been a little more like Winter, the first signs of Spring are popping up everywhere. Even at the market...the marshmallow peeps have arrived! I know because my little guy is a marshmallow aficionado and he has been trying to sneak them into the cart on the last few shopping trips. The thought of actually biting into a peep makes my teeth hurt but, I love all the fun colors. The turquoise birdies are my favorite! I am preparing for the International Textile show this week so, I printed out this color chart to take with me. Here are the Pantone Spring Colors for 2011.

I'm obsessed with Silver Peony & Silver Cloud. I would love to find a great print in that color combo. Looking forward to my trip to L.A. and hoping to get inspired by something fresh and new (fingers crossed.)

I always try to find little ways to celebrate Saint Patrick's day with my family. Especially because they look forward to it and someday soon they will be teenagers that are too "school for cool."

We usually start with Lucky Charms or green pancakes for breakfast and if it's on a school day

I pack a completely green lunch...

Kiwi or green apples

Green Gatorade

Shamrock sugar cookie

For the shenanigans...

Add a few drops of green food coloring to the toilet water (for boys)

Sprinkle a trail of green glitter (for girls)

Hide a bag of gold chocolate coins and leave clues as to their whereabouts.

I like to stir things up and turn a few things upside down in their rooms (blame it on the leprechauns!)

It doesn't take much but, it's fun and kids look forward to these silly traditions.

I had the pleasure of meeting the founder of Tutus & Tuques, she is based in North San Diego! She is the brains and the pure heart behind this amazing organization. She is also mom to an adorable little girl who is seeing an extraordinary example of love and service through her mother's work in their community and across the country.

Tutus & Tuques is a non profit organization that provides small groups nationwide with tools to make gifts for their local children's hospitals for kids battling cancer & chronic disease.

I think many of us would like to get involved and do something to make a difference in our community but, sometimes we aren't sure how to go about it. That's why I love Tutus & Tuques! They have taken care of all the details and made it simple, fun and empowering for women to get together and truly make a difference.

A little inspiration...

Not sure what to do in my office. I've been surrounded by white walls for a little over a year so...it's time! I think I've decided on gray walls (Benjamin Moore Stonington Gray to be exact.)

I've been collecting fabric and tidbits but, now it's time to put it all together and I'm a tiny bit overwhelmed! The good thing about waiting a year is that I really understand how I need this space to function and I've noticed that my taste has changed quite a bit too. I have a hard time sticking to one style so, I'm going for classic lines & textiles and bringing in some fun accessories (all on a budget.) I'm looking forward to finally having a space that inspires me! Whether it's a nursery, master suite or workspace I love to decorate. I follow the advice of my regular design blogs. I also love to print or tear magazine pics out and pin them to my bulletin board. I think it helps organize the task at hand.

Here's what I'm starting with...

Ikea BESTA BURS Desk

A simple armoire that my husband made a few years ago. Just needs new hardware.

A python accent table that I found at Home Goods

A vintage movie poster that I found at the flea market. I loved it at first glance, in the Domino Magazine article featuring Amanda Peet's nursery.
There is just something about each of these spaces that I love. Now to narrow it down.

I already have this rug PB Teen (no longer available) and the pillows are Dwell Studio for Target.

Can't go wrong with these Jonathan Adler faux bamboo chairs. I've also seen them in citron yellow, orange and red lacquer...all good but, pricey!

A tutu desk...how fun is that?

Modern Christmas Decor

When I decorate for the holidays I tend to stray from the traditional red & green. I love a simple, modern look. So, I was thrilled when I found this idea. It's a scarf holder from IKEA! They personalized it with small ornaments, stamped tags and it has a little bit of turquoise, which fits in perfectly with my decor.

This is a great way to display keepsake ornaments or a cool vintage brooch collection. I adore this! I plan on buying two or three and hooking them together.

Thanksgiving 2010...the Kids Table

We have some extra guest coming this year so, I'm breaking out the kids table. I love to do something different each year. While I was looking for new ideas I found this Popcorn Turkey over at One Charming Party. I think the kids will enjoy having their own turkey to carve (plastic knives will do.) I love how they put it on its own platter and added the garnish. So creative!

Still love this! Kids and adults did too. It's Martha (of course.) Napkin rings that double as feathered headbands.

If you have a printer and t.p. rolls you can make these adorable Squirrel Favors.

Fill them with treats or nuts. Directions here.

When all else fails and you don't need an extra project. I love these Chocolate Turkeys from See's Candy. They look cute just sitting on the plate. ($11.55 for 3) You can buy them individually too.

Get the party started...

Thanksgiving is a great time to invite friends, family and neighbors over for dinner. A table full of people who might not have much in common can sometimes use an ice breaker to get the conversation rolling. Roll these up and tie with ribbon or place flat on your place settings. Purchase an extra bottle of wine, sparking cider or box of chocolates for the winner of the the Turkey Trivia contest.

Some days are a blur...

6:30AM - Alarm goes off.

6:30 - 7:00AM - Make coffee, shower and get dressed

7:00 -7:30 AM - Make breakfast, pack lunchboxes, Sign school forms, reading logs etc...

7:50AM - Walk to school (did we forget anything?) Run back, grab it and continue on to school

8:00 AM - Front of school. (Yay we made it!)

Kiss. Smooch. (Yes my boys still let me kiss the tops of their heads at school!) My little one almost always runs back to give me another squeeze. I admit some days I don't know what I would do without that extra squeeze. It's not a bad routine but, every morning it is the same routine. After I send them off to school, I continue my walk. Get home. Re-heat coffee. Clean up the dishes..."lather, rinse repeat." All of our mornings are pretty much the same. Should they be different? I've been thinking a lot about that lately. Now that my kids are in school I struggle with the amount of quality time that I have with them. After extracurricular courses, homework, playing outside with friends, dinner etc... there's only a couple good hours left to read a short story or just talk about our day and by then I'm pretty spent. I want more! I want to be purposeful with my time. It was so much easier when they were preschoolers. Now our days seem rushed and filled with obligations. And we are only doing a quarter of the activities that most families take on. I want to make sure that I am doing all I can do, instilling all I can instill in my children and sowing seeds that will faithfully blossom later. It took a tragic event to remind me that although life can sometimes feel overwhelming, each day is a blessing and I pray that at the end of each day there is the promise of a new day. Raising healthy, happy children is a pretty big job but, why stop there? How about raising compassionate children or children who are inspired to share their gifts & talents with the world? What seeds do you want to sow in your children? Every day that we spend with the people we love is an incredible gift. Use it wisely. From now on I certainly will. I am making a conscious effort to sow seeds in my children today, not tomorrow or on the weekend when we have a little more time. Today.

I might be a little early but, my kids are already talking about Halloween so, I know it will be here soon. BTW...I take no credit for any of these! I will attempt them, especially the pumpkin brownies. Hello? Pumpkin and brownie...two of my favorite things morphed together. Everything else I viewed on Martha's site was to "Martha-y" as in how many people can just whip up a batch of fondant to make ghost cupcakes? Or who has time to snip teeny tiny monster parts out of fruit roll-ups? Definitely not me! Thought these looked fairly easy to make. Click on the Titles to get instructions and recipes.

B O O!

I have been having fun creating with burlap lately. I became inspired after seeing all of the cool vintage grainsack textiles. The grainsack is hard to come by but, burlap on the other hand is inexpensive and available at any fabric store. It think it has a casual elegant look to it. I bought 2 yards of burlap at the craft store for $2 per yard and I was able to make two table runners, a Halloween banner and I still have some left over. It goes a long way! The first thing I made was this table runner for a Baby Shower/Afternoon tea that I was hosting with my good friend. I cut the fabric lengthwise to make a runner for my rectangular table. Then, I stitched the edges and painted orange seahorses and turquoise shells to go with our theme.

I was so happy with it that I started to make another one in black to use on a daily basis.

Still working on it but, here's a preview.

And there was still some burlap left over so, I made a Halloween banner.

O.k....I think I got my fill of burlap! Unless you have new ideas to share? If you do...send them!

If you would like to make your own banner, follow these directions:

Note: Make sure to put newspaper or paper towels underneath the burlap before you begin painting.

Cut long triangles - 1 triangle for each letter in your banner

Fold the top down leaving a 1 inch. opening.

Stitch along the cut edge or hot glue it to create a pocket.

Next print out (in a Stencil like font) your letters on card stock.

Some ideas are...

Harvest
Autumn

Cut the letters out.
Trace the letters onto the burlap with a pencil or black Sharpie.
Using a small paint brush and black acrylic paint, fill in the letters.
Let the paint dry.
Take a long ribbon (black & white striped would be really cute.) or piece of tulle and feed it through the pocket along the top of the triangle with a sharp pencil or wooden dowel.
Tie loops on each end of your ribbon or tulle and hang on a fireplace mantel, window, front door or garden gate to scare the goblins away!

Knowing that Cheri has boys (and look how cute they are!) I was curious as to her inspiration for these beautiful and very girly tutus!

Cheri: I've always been crafty and I've always wanted a girl! I'm a Hair Stylist by trade that has been blessed into mommyhood. I started playing around with stuff one day and made my first tutu but being the mom of two boys I had to find someone to give it too. From then on I started getting inspired and pairing them up with shirts. I love Birthdays and like to celebrate my 'half' birthday so I focus on those. The
name 'Lily' came from a little girl in Cambodia that I fell in love with at an Aids Orphanage and she was called Lee Lee but I called her Lily.

I see on your blog that you donate 20% of your proceeds to In His Steps Int'l - Cambodia, can you tell us a little bit about what prompted you to support this organization?

Cheri: I knew right away that I should give to a ministry. I spent 2 months in Cambodia

a while ago and I have a strong heart for those people. The couple I lived with

while I was there started this ministry and are saving young girls from prostitution

and giving them a new life. I knew that the little girl Lily in the Aids orphanage

was probably there because her mom died of Aids from being a prostitute or her dad

was with a prostitute and gave the virus to her mom. Either way she was without

parents and by God's grace she didn't get the virus. I trust this couple and I want

to be a part of the bigger picture, educating people and building the Kingdom of

God.

Living Locurto is a gem of a website. If you have not had the chance to visit, no doubt it will soon be a favorite. Amy Locurto is a talented graphic artist and photographer. She is always adding new and fabulous printables to her online store. I stumbled across the site a couple of years ago while searching for chore cards for my son to help him get ready for Kindergarten. I saw a set at one of my favorite paper stores for around $16 but, didn't really want to spend that much and I didn't find anything online that was cute. These Morning Routine cards were exactly what I was looking for (and free!) We made tie dye cupcakes for my son's Birthday a few weeks ago and they were a HUGE hit!

Here's the Birthday Boy mixing up neon tie dye cupcakes for his party!

So, we decided to try them again using red, white & blue for our patriotic theme.

We started off with Betty Crocker vanilla bean cake mix (any white cake mix will work.) Follow the directions on the box. Separate the batter into three bowls. Add several drops of red food coloring to one bowl and several drops of blue to the other until you reach the perfect hue. Line your cupcake pan. We used Jumbo cupcake liners for ours but, any kind will do. My kids love the next part...sort of like cupcake art! Add a big spoonful of white cake batter and then alternate red & blue until it looks swirly and cool like this...

Bake as directed, cool and frost.

We made homemade vanilla butter cream frosting. Recipe here

Congrats Kara Noel!

Before

Kara Noel of Eli's Lids just had her baby! This makes #3 for this awesome family. They kept the sex of the baby a surprise. Or maybe they knew all along and kept it a secret?? She has blogged throughout her entire pregnancy (with her famous spoonful of cookie dough by her side!)

You can find Kara Noel on the Eli's Lids blog here or on her OCFamily blog "She's Crafty" here. Kara was Tweeting though contractions (which I somehow missed.) Next thing I know she posted pics of her and her sweet baby BOY. Look at her "before" and "afters." Hard to believe that she was ever in labor but, after reading her tweets I'm sure she can account for that! She is a true beauty inside and out and we are thrilled with this news! Congratulations! We can't wait to meet that sweet BOY!!!

Summer lovin...

Remember making friendship bracelets at Summer camp? These were usually worn all Summer until they finally fray and fall off (or start to get a little grungy?) My son made this at school for my hubby...I'm sure he'll love it! My little one made a card with pictures of all the things he loves to do with Dad...fishing at the lagoon, riding bikes to the beach and going to the skatepark. So grateful for those times (when I get a little peace & quiet) too! We are so blessed to have my husband who is an awesome Dad and to have two amazing Papas who my boys really look up to. Fun day ahead...celebrating Father's Day and my little one turned eight today! Happy Father's Day to all the Dads, Grandpas, "Papas" and Daddy's-to-be! Hope your day is wonderful!

I rode my bicycle to the beach this morning and found these Happy flowers growing along the bike trail. I wish I had a proper name for them but, I don't so I'll just call them "Happy flowers." Can't wait for tonight...meeting the girls at the wine bar and then on to the movie theater to see Sex and the City 2. Don't wait up!

Teacher Appreciation or End of Year Gifts

I am seriously wondering who chose the first week in June as the week to officially show our appreciation for our teachers? My calendar is already marked up with all of the scheduled field trips, Open House and school events. Yesterday, I literally had to be two places at once and failed miserably! My 1st grader was receiving a special award at school and I was on a field trip with my 3rd grader at the same time so I missed it...boo! After school he comes running out of his classroom (shiny gold medal around his neck.) "Mommy, I got my medal!" Two seconds later... "Where were you?" My heart sank for a moment, then I blurted out, "let's go get a frozen yogurt to celebrate!" Um...damage control. I think my diversion worked (at least temporarily) and although

I still feel guilty for not being there for him,

he was pretty much over it by the time he dug his spoon in.

It's hard to be a Mom and to feel like you have to be everywhere at once!!! I often have too many balls in the air and sometimes feel like a failure when they all come crashing down.

So... back to teacher appreciation. We brought our flower in today to our fabulous 1st grade teacher and we will also present her with a group gift. My son's awesome 3rd grade teacher is having lunch brought in each day from his favorite restaurants so, he's covered (unless I forget to bring his RBC burrito tomorrow!) Our school may be a little different from most because in addition to our home room teachers, my kids also have an art teacher, music teacher, P.E. teacher and Literacy Specialist aka "Story Queen." Oh...and a very caring school nurse who has fixed my kids boo boos more times than I can count. So, I was looking around for a little something for my kids to give to each of them. The goal is to show our thanks without breaking the bank. I searched around and found some great D.I.Y. ideas and even found some FREE printable gifts.

P.S. These would also work well as end of year gifts.

Now I just need to decide which one to give?

One year my boys gave their teachers a homemade sugar hand scrub similar to this one.

You can find glass jars at ikea, Dollar store or recycle jars you have saved at home.

Recipe:

50% Sugar

50% Vegetable glycerin or coconut oil

2 drops of your favorite essential oil (lemon grass, pink grapefruit, tangerine, peppermint, lavender)

Mix and place in jar. Print a self-adhesive label or tie a handwritten tag around the lid with a ribbon.

Note to self... start making teacher appreciation gifts in April next year!!!

These are suggestions but, I'm sure most teachers would appreciate any form of acknowledgment for their dedication and hard work. I know I'll sure miss my kiddo's teachers this summer when I'm trying to keep them busy or listening to them say "I'm bored" for the 100th time!

When I was a newlywed I lived at the beach on the Balboa Peninsula. One morning I was running out the door to work and there was a little Sea Lion on my door step looking up at me. I didn't know what to do and knew that If I called in late to the office because I had a sea lion on my doorstep they would probably have a straight jacket waiting for me when I arrived! My husband and I tried to coax it back to the water by leaving a trail of tropical fish food that we had in the freezer. We were fresh out of sea lion food that day! We were walking back and forth trying to find something to entice him with. He was following us back and forth and had no plans of leaving! Then my husband pulled a moving blanket out of the garage, we called him over (like he was a dog?) He waddled up on the blanket. We each took one end and carried him (inside the blanket) back to the beach! When I visualize it now...I'm surprised my neighbors didn't call the police. It probably looked like we were disposing of a dead body! (Gladys Kravitz must of slept in that morning.) Our sea lion friend accepted his ride back to the shore, then turned around and waddled his way to land, down the sidewalk and back to our garage. Thoughts of this creature becoming our new pet and living in my bath tub (like Andre') ran through my head. I forgot all about this ordeal until I saw this cute little guy who kept poking his head into our shot and making my son and his friends belly laugh! As we were walking away from the Sea Lion pool, Noah asked me with a serious face and wanting a real answer, "Mommy, can we have a sea lion?"

P.S. We called the Marine Mammal rescue when they opened and they told us that they were pretty sure they knew who we were talking about. He had been in a little bit of mischief before and they had received many calls about him from the locals.

So "Andre" the street smart sea lion was fine.

Thankful that we did not miss out on this field trip!!! Being sick is the pits and I'm so grateful that we are healthy again! Happy Wednesday:)

I love to receive notes in the mail from my clients. It's also fun when they email photos with their newborns. I'm always shocked that they take the time to do so with sleep deprivation kickin' in and all the challenges of bringing home a new baby. It's very thoughtful and encouraging to know that they thought enough of our product to write. I had not been to the HQ for a while because my little one was sick and I was working from home (so grateful that I can do this!) so, when I finally made it by to pick up the mail I was delighted to find this waiting for me! It was a thank you card from Sarah Michelle Gellar. At the end of last summer her assistant contacted us to tell us that Sarah Michelle was very interested in our product. She ended up choosing two gowns (Cocoa Chanel & Lemon drop) for her upcoming delivery. She and husband Freddie Prinze Jr. welcomed their daughter Charlotte Grace about a month later on September 19, 2009.

Q. What was the inspiration behind Designer Mamas?

A. I created Designer Mamas as I believe in the need for women to feel beautiful at a time that can be unknown, frightening and wonderful all at the same time. It is not everyday a woman gives birth and we should encourage them to feel good on such a special day!

Q. How many children do you have?

A. I have 3 beautiful children, Lara-Grace 4, Lachlan 2, and little Baby Edi 5 months

Q. How do you balance your time between family, business etc...?

A. It is a constant juggling act, I'm no superwoman that's for sure! Thankfully my children are pretty good and allow me snippets of time throughout the day to get things done. Oh and my all important BLACKBERRY - couldn't function without it!

Q. What is the big fashion trend (or must have accessory) in Australia right now?

A. We are coming into winter here in Australia, so it would definitely have to be some super hot boots!

Q.Did you have a favorite maternity product when you were expecting?

A. I wish I could say my Designer Hospital Gown here but I just missed out on that one! Watch this space if I might get one more chance... I would probably have to say my flat comfortable shoes, or does chocolate count..

Q. What new and exciting things can we expect at Designer Mamas?

A. We are always looking at products and services to add that will compliment our Designer Hospital Gowns, but right now we are focusing on introducing them to the market in Australia and New Zealand.

Q. What is the one attraction or place we should not miss seeing when visiting Australia?

A. Definitely the Sydney Opera house, simply remarkable and divine!

I would love to visit the Sydney Opera house someday! It was so nice to chat with Nicole and learn a little more about her and her beautiful family. I hope she does get one more chance (especially now that she know where to find a pretty hospital gown!) and yes Nicole...chocolate always counts!!!

Happy day after Mother's Day! So, now what? We just go back to our regular routines? No one is serving us breakfast in bed or sending us out for a day of pampering at the spa? It is kind of tough fitting all of the extra love and appreciation (that we Moms deserve) into one day. Well that's what we thought anyways. So, the amazing women at Blessed Nest and Eli's Lids decided to extend MOMsday. I'm also excited to be a part of this awesome giveaway!!! I recently attended an elegant Bridal Shower that left me inspired. I knew it would be posh because the bride -to-be is a Wedding Planner who has planned weddings and events for some very well known celebrities...I was not disappointed! The gray & yellow color combination is one of my favorites so, it was fun to soak in all of the details. I also left thinking about how fun it would be to incorporate these colors into a baby shower theme (especially if the sex of the baby is a surprise or if it's for girl & boy twins.)

So, here is what I've come up...

The Invitation...

O.k. I know these are wedding invites but, this is a FREE download and print invitation. You can change the details, font etc... and slip in a classic gray envelope. Jessica Jones of How about orange... offers some other (to die for) designs that are also FREE. How could something so cool be FREE? You'll have to see for yourself.

Love the gray & white seersucker tablecloth with bouquets of yellow roses. You can find seersucker fabric at any fabric store and make your own. Flowers always look more modern & stylish when you stick with one color for your arrangement. I like to go to my local Farmer's market and buy tulips, daisies or roses all in the same color. The banner from Sweet Occasions adds a personal touch. I would also add large glass vases or bowls filled with fresh lemons throughout. I do this at home on a regular basis to brighten my kitchen.

Party Favors...

Bake a batch of (super easy) Lemon cookies (this recipe has 4 ingredients) and place a few cookies in each bag. You can find bags like these at craft stores or you can even use pinking shears to cut down ordinary white lunch sacks. Fold over and punch holes for the ribbon. You can also add a stamp or label. Take the mama-to-be's last name and print a script style letter in gray for each bag. You can also add "Baby (couples last name) is on it's way"

Or another idea I had...

Buy old fashioned yellow candy sticks like these. Tie a few together with gray satin ribbon with a small tag hanging off. These were $12.00 for 80 sticks at Candy Warehouse.

Emmy Awards Pre-event at Palihouse Holloway

I can't think of a better place to spend the day before the Emmy Awards than at the Palihouse Holloway. This boutique hotel is a designer's paradise...eye candy in every corner. The attention to detail and juxtaposition of each element was incredibly artful yet, cozy and not stuffy in the least! We had a great time before the event lounging in the lobby bar and the open courtyard.

We set up camp in a chic loft space near the roof top lounge.  We had a semi-private space upstairs at this already intimate event hosted by Jayneoni Moore.    Downstairs  Coca-Cola set up their signature bar and across the room cotton candy machines were turning out colorful, sticky clouds by the dozens!  I wonder what the celebrity Moms & Dads thought of the sugary fare?  Sweet & sweeter!  It was a fun event for us adults. I think it's safe to say that the little ones enjoyed it too!  We had the opportunity to chat with some of our past clients and this time instead of sporting bumps, most had their adorable babies with them.   There were  plenty of new bumps too!  Hollywood is  still in full baby boom status!  So, here are a few photos from the event.  Hope you enjoy them!

B.Y.O.G. That Morning Show on E!

Monday was incredibly fun! We taped a segment for a new morning show on E! Simply called "That Morning Show" and also referred to by anyone who is cool as "TMS."

The day started with hair & makeup at Flawless Faces. Carina, the owner was amazing and her studio is so cool! I highly recommend their services for any special occasion. She also offers private makeup lessons, brow shaping and facials. The models received the royal treatment before dashing off to the television studio.

After I gave a brief interview and company overview the models came out for a fashion show in their B.Y.O.G. gowns. Everyone did a great job! You probably can't tell from the photo below but, It was a long day, especially for the pregnant models. It was nice to have the green room to hang out and relax in before the show.

A very sweet customer introduced me to this company and I am so glad she did! Wild Olive is the collaboration of three women who describe themselves as "regular moms" united by a passion of God and his word. These three inspiring and talented women design stylish and yummy-soft, cotton tees with uplifting scripture printed on the back. I was fortunate to receive a fitted "Rooted" tee as a gift and I literally could not wait to wear it! I was on my way out the door when I opened my mailbox and saw the package. I had to run back inside and put it on. The graphic image of the tree and it's strong roots is so artistically designed and the verse is very powerful. With all the sarcastic and edgy slogans printed on tees these days it's nice to counteract some of the negativity with a positive message! I would love to see these in children's sizes...maybe someday soon?

The Breakfast Club Mommies is the latest in a series of posh social events from Hollywood Insider Jayneoni Moore. Actress and Hip Mama Tisha Campbell was the recipient of the "I Heart My Baby Bump" gift bag from Jayneoni. The bag was filled with all the latest "must-have" products including a B.Y.O.G. gown in Havana Rose print. The first club event also included a book signing for Nancy O'Dell's book "Full of Life." Nancy shares personal pregnancy stories and tips for mom's to be in her book. This would make a great Mother's Day gift for a first time mom to be.

This book is filled beautiful photos and Traci's savvy design tips for creating a beautiful and environmentally conscious nursery. This is a wonderful book to pull inspiration from. If you are designing your own earth friendly nursery, check out Blessed Nest. Bel Bambini in West Hollywood is also a wonderful resource for bamboo bedding, organic coconut husk mattresses and eco-friendly furniture. Jessica Alba filled daughter Honor Marie's nursery with "green" items from Bel Bambini's gift registry.

Modern Bird's Nest

I don't like anything about the word "crafty" but, as room parent for my son's classroom I am always in charge of coming up with crafts. We search magazines and the web to try and find new ideas for crafts that are more our style. It does take a little more time and effort but, in the end we are always happy that we thought outside of the box. After seeing the finished product, I thought this would actually make a great centerpiece or favor for a baby shower. Just choose paper that is in the color group or theme you are working with.

Here is our idea of a modern spring craft.

Here's what you'll need.

Small plastic or terra cotta pots. (We found biodegradable bamboo pots 2/$.99 at the $.99 Store)
One block of styrofoam cut into 2" squares (any color)
Lollipop sticks in two different sizes
Scrapbook paper or card stock of your choice
Shredded paper or Easter grass
Egg shaped candy or jelly beans.
Strong, clear tape
Bird template... you can download it here or draw a simple shape.

You can add a banner with your own spring greeting or
if using these as baby shower favors print Welcome Baby (last name.)
You can also use smaller pots to use as place settings.

Directions:

Trace bird silhouettes (1 sm. & 1 lg.) on the card stock or scrapbook paper & cut out shapes.
Cut styrofoam into two inch squares and place in the bottom of the pot.
Add your nesting material to the pot
Attach the lollipop sticks with clear tape to the back of the birds.
Press sticks firmly down into the styrofoam.
Add your eggs & banner and you're done.

This craft was done with 2nd graders but, you could add your own style by painting the pots or add bits of feather's, fibers or ribbon to the nest. Have fun nesting!

Which would you choose?

I am very passionate about my company, my clients and the quality of my product. I do what I can to reach my niche market but, I also realize that it may not fit into every one's budget... or so I thought? Well, a very conservative business man recently approached me to tell me what he thought about B.Y.O.G. Here's what he said.

"My wife really wanted one of these when she had our daughter but, I didn't get her one. (buy a round of golf instead?) I like your product but, I didn't want to spend $95.00 on a hospital gown. (Fair enough.) My wife went into labor last October and she wore the gown that the hospital provided (you mean the used, overly bleached, open in the back one?) It wasn't the greatest but, she didn't have much choice. (YEAH, cuz you were being cheap!) About a month later I received my hospital bill and noticed a pretty hefty charge for medical supplies. so, I requested an itemized bill. I was pretty shocked to see that we were charged $150.00 for the hospital gown that we left behind at the hospital! I should of made my wife happy and bought her a B.Y.O.G." (I heart you!)

This frugal (brilliant and wonderful) man decided it might be a better option to buy instead of rent next time. He said, "you should really look into this." And I will! I'll post my findings soon!

Elaini is one of my online customers who instantly became one of my dearest friends. We met last summer when she was placing an order on our website. She was very specific about the packaging and asked if we could remove any pregnancy related material. In her second email she explained that the gown was for a young girl who had leukemia. She had never met her but, wanted her to have something pretty to wear while she is in the hospital. I found out later that the young girl was Marissa and she was hospitalized while awaiting a bone marrow transplant. Marissa was only seventeen and just graduated High School. Elaini heard about Marissa and was prompted to do something incredible. Here is an exert from a post she wrote for Radical Womanhood.

"In February my dad heard about a young lady who had just been diagnosed with leukemia. Marissa is just seventeen and she is a Christian who loves God with all her heart. Her family had set up a caringbridge site (similar to a blog) to update their friends and family about the different stages of the sickness that they were experiencing. I was able to get on and read about her, as well as post a note of encouragement on her guest book. The Lord had heavily laid her on my heart and I was sure He had a good reason. Two days before she went into the hospital to start the intensive part of her treatment, God prompted me to purchase stylish hospital gowns for her. Yes, hospital gowns. While browsing the Internet I had come across some very fashionable gowns, and I knew that if I were Marissa I would not want to be wearing an ugly, drab sack of material. (If you already feel bad it doesn’t help if you look bad as well!) When I discovered the B.Y.O.G. company--bring your own gown--I knew this was going to be good. One idea led to another and very quickly I decided to ask friends to join me in purchasing these “dresses,” as well as writing notes of encouragement to Marissa. I was blessed and overwhelmed by the response of generosity that started pouring out around me. Everyone was so willing that I had more than enough and was able to order two gowns. When I went on to B.Y.O.G’s website the Lord directed me to a page about the owners, Andrea and Cindi. At the bottom of the page about them was this verse from Psalms 37:4, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Excitedly I wrote the owners and shared that I was a Christian and I believed that verse as well, and explained to them what my girl friends and I were doing. Their response was prompt, gracious, and kind. Some special packaging was needed, which they were eager to do. They also said they would pray for Marissa and enlist their Bible study to pray as well. A few days later the package arrived in the mail and I couldn’t help but jump up and down with excitement as I read this enclosed note:
“Dear Elaini,
We were so touched by what you girls have done for Marissa and we wanted to match your contribution. Enclosed, please find four gowns for Marissa. We thought she could use the suitcase for all the cards she will be receiving too.
God bless!
Cindi and Andrea”

Wow, not only did they send it beautifully wrapped but they also sent two more gowns. It was such a confirmation of God’s plan.
Several days later I was delighted to finally meet Marissa, a warm, sweet, and friendly girl. When I gave her the gowns she was very overwhelmed and she enjoyed reading the cards and looking at the girl’s pictures who had helped with the purchase. I was so grateful to be a part of what God was doing. The notes ended up going up all over the walls of her room and she even modeled the gowns for me. She said that she had been asking the Lord that morning if cute and discreet (modest) hospital gowns existed!"

Elaini is not like most twenty year olds. She has a pure, caring heart, she knows her purpose and is faithfully serving God. She is a sweet and amazing girl! We chat and exchange emails regularly. She often will sense when I am stressed and send me an email or call to let me know that I am on her heart and she is praying for me. We always end our conversations by saying "I love you." She is like a little sister to me. We have made plans to meet (she lives in another state) and have a girls day out filled with shopping and pedicures (because she know that I am constantly surrounded by little boys!) I know that Elaini is meant to be in my life but, I NEVER dreamed I could meet a friend like her selling hospital gowns online! Marissa is in remission and in good health. After receiving emails from Marissa's grateful mother, getting daily updates/prayer request for Marissa and seeing her beautiful photos we feel like we know her and are so thankful for her miraculous recovery. We also realized the need to create a line of gowns for women and young girls like Marissa who really need to be uplifted. I'll never forget the email I received from Marissa's mother. She wrote to tell me that Marissa got up that day to take a shower so she could wear her new gown. The Tooth Fairy leaves dust?

Well it seems like every other month the tooth fairy pays us a visit. Noah is now 6 and his teeth are falling out like crazy! The last one fell out just a couple weeks ago at school. Losing a tooth in Kindergarten is BIG news! He ran out of the classroom with the Tooth bag and a big gummy smile. I made a mental note to get some new, crisp dollar bills on my way home from work. That night was like many nights in our home. We get home, we start homework, dinner, bath, reading and bed. I was wiped out from a long day of work plus all of the above (Daddy was working late to top it off.) Long story short... I fell asleep and forgot to be the Tooth Fairy!!! Holy crap! I thought to myself when I woke up and saw his sad face starring at me. I tried to distract him. I said, " I bet that Tooth Fairy is being tricky and hid your money?" I slipped a wad of money under his mattress (guilty Mom= extra cash.) He ran into his room and started feverishly looking around. He didn't leave a pillow or stuffed animal unturned! Then finally he caught a glimpse of green peeking out from under his mattress. He grabbed the money and kept looking around. I said, "Noah what did she leave for you?" He says, "A bunch of dollars." "Cool, so why are you still looking around?" "I didn't see the dust." "Zoe said she saw a trail of fairy dust!" Well I thought I had recovered quite well with the whole sneaking the money thing but, dust? Where am I going to find fairy dust and how am I going to now leave a trail of it? (P.S. Thanks Zoe's mom for making the rest of us moms feel like losers!) So... we decided that the fairy didn't leave dust this time because she had a long list of kids to visit and teeth to collect. I thought about the dust all day and decided to prepare for the next fallen tooth. I am armed and ready and unlike Zoe's mom I am caring enough to share this little secret with all of you! BTW... Just found out that Zoe also had Leprachaun's visit her house and while they were there they turned the toilet water green! I decided to befriend Zoe's mom so, I too can get tips for all of the upcoming holidays and I promise to share them with you! I might even have a few of my own now that I know what I'm up against! As for the "Fairy dust" you can find it here or make your own using glitter.

Brooke Mueller & Charlie Sheen are Seeing Double!

Brooke Mueller gave birth to twin boys! The twins, Max & Bob arrived a few weeks before their due date on Saturday, March 14th. Brooke seen here holding a burp cloth collection by B.Y.O.G. chose our Bellini and Blue lagoon prints for her labor attire. I'm sure she looked chic in both! (Kathy Hilton headed straight to our table to choose a gown for Brooke at the event but, Brooke had already picked out two of her favorite prints the night before!) The twins make 5 for Charlie Sheen who has daughters Sam & Lola with ex-wife Denise Richards and a 24 year old daughter from a previous marriage. Best wishes to new mommy Brooke and proud daddy Charlie on the birth of their sons.

Yeah... it's here! We are so excited to be included in the KidsLA Magazine's Spring '09 Issue. The cover features Ming and Aoki, daughter's of Kimora Lee and Russel Simmons. Inside KidsLA you will always find beautiful and artistic editorials but, in addition to all of the regular sections the focus in this issue is all about being green. We are not an organic product (yet) and although our packaging is minimal and reusable it is not officially eco-friendly (still working on that.) So it made me wonder how we made it into this "Green" issue? Then I remembered... one of the wonderful things about our product is that it is made in the U.S.A. so, not only are we providing jobs locally we are also not contributing to air pollution by having our products made in other Countries and transported here. I personally do everything I can to teach my family how to be "green" at home so, I know we can do more at B.Y.O.G. and I am inspired to find ways to become a green(er) company. I will share some of our family's green tips in a future post. In the meantime, if you would like more information on how you can teach your kids about preserving the environment visit the EPA's Environmental Kids Club

A Sea of Polka Dots, Satin & Tulle!

Today was a beautiful, sunny day in Southern California. Me, my girlfriend Traci and her two littlest pumpkins took a drive down the coast to Long Beach. We were on a mission to find some amazing ribbon for Traci. We spent a good hour perusing through hundreds of spools of ribbon at Fabric Barn. (They seriously need to change the name. Fabric is the least of what they have.) We found ourselves in a sea of polka dots, satin and tulle. Traci is a true artist and has an eye for color, texture and style. She knew exactly what she needed and found a few surprises too! She is definitely a Paper Artist but, I hate to put her in a box with that title because she is so much more! She creates the most beautiful and unique books for friends and now friends of friends. They are perfect for moms like me who do not know how to create scrapbooks or don't have the time or patience. You can just add your favorite photos or keepsakes to her books but, "scrapbook" is not the right word for these little works of art! Her books are so sought after that she has decided to make a home business out of it. Don't get too excited yet... she has three little ones all under the age of 4, so this smart mommy is taking her time. I have to say that she is passionate and determined so, I don't think it will be long before she gets her store up and running. I'll keep you posted!

I stopped watching shows about delivering babies a while ago, after my first pregnancy. I was hooked on TLC's A Baby Story and could not get through a single episode without tears streaming down my face. I haven't felt compelled to watch for quite some time and I even get a little squeamish when I'm clicking through channels and accidentally land on an episode that is filming a c-section birth. I was recently introduced to a new show on Discovery Health called Deliver me. I love this show! It is about a team of female doctors, their personal lives and their busy OB/GYN practice in Los Angeles. The cameras go behind the scenes of their high energy office. The show also focuses on the lives of a few patients that they are caring for during pregnancy and all the way through delivery day. During an upcoming episode titled "Don't Look Back," Entertainment Lawyer Inga is giving birth to her second child, a son named Isley (love the name!) Inga looked beautiful in her Cocoa Chanel B.Y.O.G. She wrote me today to tell me to watch.

Hello! Please let me say thank you for sending me the wonderful gown to be worn for the birth of my son and my appearance on the Discovery Health show called "Deliver Me". What you are not aware of is that 5 minutes after the gown arrived on October 29, 2008 with cameras rolling, I went into labor! I still managed to open the gown on camera before I had to leave to go to the hospital! I was 2 weeks early! (That's the bad news) The good new is my son was born later that evening and B.Y.O.G. made it into the final cut! I felt so beautiful in the gown and I can't tell you how many compliments I got and am still getting about how pretty I looked after just having a baby!!! Thank you so much for everything. Needless to stay it's been a wild ride ever since and I am just catching my breath long enough to say hello. I hope all is well.

The Mentalist's Maxine Bahns welcomed daughter Madison Rose on Sunday, March 8th in Santa Monica, CA. I met Maxine and girlfriend Niki Ziering back in January at the Boom Boom Room where they were shopping for all the latest. Maxine chose a B.Y.O.G. gown in Bellini print for her big day! Nikki should be next, their due dates were only a few weeks apart. Congratulations to Maxine and husband Patrick Watson.

Victoria Recaño's Oscar gown

The Insider host and correspondent was no doubt blinded by flash photography and wore a beautiful gown while she awaited the big event but, it wasn't all about the Oscars. Victoria passed up the red carpet event and headed straight to the maternity ward! Her baby girl was born Sunday, February 22nd, just as the Academy Awards were being presented.
Victoria and husband Tom Burwell celebrated the arrival a few weeks earlier at her baby shower hosted by Hot Moms Club and Fit Pregnancy Magazine. The Pink soiree was held at Ketchup on Sunset Blvd. I was also pleasantly surprised to receive a Thank You card from Victoria in my mailbox last week. I am so impressed that this busy, new mom took the time to write. How sweet! Congratulations to Victoria Recaño and her husband Tom Burwell!

The original episode titled, Reading, Writing and Renovations, aired on Oxygen, Tuesday July 22, 2008. Tori and Dean visit Bel Bambini to register for their upcoming baby shower. During their appointment Tori tried on a B.Y.O.G. in Havana Rose! She looked so cute and Dean even said, "That's really cute Babe!" She registered for the gown and we hope to see it on her again when she's in labor & delivery! She's pretty candid on the show but, do you think she'll have cameras in the delivery room? We'll have to wait and see. We would of been excited to see our gown hanging on a mannequin in the back of the store somewhere. Never could we of imagined that Tori would have it on! It was really exciting! We even had a couple people call us the next day to tell us that they saw our gown on Tori's show.

I've recently become a fan of the reality show Tori & Dean Home Sweet Hollywood. She is funny and seems surprisingly down to earth. I now have even more reason to be a fan! Cindi and I just found out that she registered at Bel Bambini for a B.Y.O.G. gown in our Havana Rose print. It came as a coincidence because last November we were having lunch at Fred Segal and Tori came in pushing her little man Liam in the stroller. We talked about how great it would be to send her a gown for her next pregnancy. Little did we know she was already pregnant at the time and she did end up having a B.Y.O.G. in her hospital bag! Tori gave birth to daughter Stella Doreen McDermott on June 9, 2008.

Jessica Alba registered for a B.Y.O.G. at Bel Bambini on Robertson Boulevard. She chose the Bluebird print for the upcoming delivery of her daughter. We spoke with the boutique manager who confirmed that the gown was indeed purchased from her registry. She said that she actually received one in another print as well (but couldn't remember which one.) We have gifted celebrities in the past including Hollywood stylist Tameka Foster (Usher's wife) and recently Camila Alves (Matthew McConaughey's girlfriend) but it's fun when they personally register for it or purchase it themselves. Her style is constantly mimicked on the pages of InStyle and other fashion magazines so, this comes as quite a compliment. We wish her all the best on delivery day!

We are back from the show. The show was a HUGE success! Big crowds and lots of press. We had a great time but, we are glad that it's over. Those weeks of running around and going over every last detail have now caught up to both of us. We gave ourselves the day off before we jump back into it. We are so grateful for the experience and the contacts we made at the show. There were so many talented exhibitors/Moms and too many pregnant bumps to count! We wanted to share some photos from the show. My husband worked so hard to make our booth look amazing! We were so thrilled to see it all put together. We also got to see our gown on the runway for the first time. I still can't believe all that unfolded this weekend it seems like a dream! (I know it was real because I have blisters on my feet from standing all day in high heels.) Today it was back to flip flops... I feel like myself again!
